A Little More About the Designer
My name is Isabelle El-Fata and I am an interior architect from Melbourne, Victoria.
I was born and raised in Adelaide, South Australia, and my passion for interior design began when I was a young girl trailing behind my parents whilst furniture shopping, giving my input on the design decisions for our house. I was only around eight at the time, but I still remember the excitement of choosing furniture pieces and comparing fabric swatches.
For the past decade, I was living abroad in Lebanon, and I was fortunate enough to travel and experience the historical journey of our world’s architecture. From the Phoenician sandstone castles in Byblos, one of the oldest cities in the world, to the magnificent Gothic churches in Paris, and to witness the tallest building in the world in Dubai. I was no longer the child walking around a furniture store; I was walking in history.
During this time, I had commenced my studies with Curtin University through Open Universities Australia (OUA), which allowed me to pursue a Bachelor of Applied Science (Interior Architecture), while simultaneously experiencing the design of the world around me. It broadened my horizon on what interior design could be and it inspired me to design – to create.
